Tell about a star gazing experience.
I have gazed at a few stars before. They were on TV, and I was at home, but I gazed away. We used to have a hot tub, a long, long time ago. We would sit in it at night and watch the stars in the sky for a while. Then the hot tub stopped heating up and we gave it away
ROFLMAO - I gazed at David Caruso (CSI Miami) once.......they were shooting scenes for the show at the Santa Monica pier - go figure.....
ReplyDeleteIn '95 I went to the Oregon Star Party with my (then) new homemade telescope. It was a beautiful clear dark night & I had a good finder chart for the moons of Uranus. The brightest 2, Titania & Oberon, were easy - and then I saw a faint flicker, a pinprick flash right where Umbriel (the 4th brightest) was... it happened 2 or 3 more times again, and (on paper!) Umbriel at magmitude 14.8 is way too faint for my 10" telescope. But on that night everything was perfect!
ReplyDeleteI never saw Ariel, the 3rd-brightest.
We were camping at the river possibly the summer of 91. A giant fireball with a long tail streaked across the sky. Later that week we learned there was a huge meteroite shower that weekend..
ReplyDeleteOh Nooooooooooo.. not the hot tub.
