Entry for April 30, 2006

Yesterday we wentto pick up our wine that we bought so long ago. I of course was the designated driver for the day, so any wine I drank was early in the day. I made sure we ate periodicly, just to keep the mixture balanced. Worked for me, not my husband. hahaha.

Some people just dont know when to stop or even slow down. Wine it seems, keeps on hitting, even after the last drink is drunk.  this time, I got a few more bottles of white from the wineries I like in the plaza. Remember, there are 12 wineries there. I havent hit all 12. Only the ones i know I like. I bought  a bottle of really nice white, will be good for the summer if I let it sit that long.  oh, by the way, I gave the wrong web address the other day to Macchia. Just in case you would like to try it, the real address is www.MacchiaWines.com  try that one. They also have maccchia@lodinet.net   I dont know if either of those work, they are whats written on the invitation sent out for the party.  Anyway, have nothing but studying and emptying my car out today planned. I huess thats enough. for now. see ya all later.

Entry for April 28, 2006

Finally Friday!

At last! I thought it was never going to get here. I also thought I was going to have to work OT tonight, but I just made it and I dont have to. Yee ha. I really dont like OT. Im not rich, but we are doing OK, and my husband says I dont need to and I agree, I dont need to. I finally received my packet from the school i am attending. Im not really going to the school, per say, buy it is an at home lesson plan that is sent ot me, i do the work, take the test and send it back. I get four lessons at a time. I figure this is the only way I am going to be able to leave my current job. I want to work In the day time and wear pretty clothes and cute shoes.  I want to start wearing makup again to work, and look like a girl, instead of a tomboy, tomlady? Im a grown up now, how would that be. Anyway, that is what I want to do. I am taking a paralegal course, I am sure I have mentiojned it before, so i will study tonight, as long as I can stay awake.

A few monthes ago, I think it was the end of last year or maybe even the beginning of this year, we bought some wine futures from a winery in Lodi, California. Every four months, they have a release party, and have a huge wine tasting. At this time, you can buy wine to bring home then, and also buy wine that is still in the barrell, getting better. That is what you taste and order. You have to buy at least a case of wine, in any combination of flavors, or labels or names or whatever they are called. Anyway, we bought a case of wine and we are going to the wine tasting  and to pick up what we bought last time we were there. Last time it was a $400.00 weekend at the winery. It is all red wine, and I only really like white, so John drinks all thre red. In case you would like to try the wine, they do ship, go to www.Macchia.com. It is an absolute blast. Everyone is drinking all day, for free. So you know there are some happy people walking aound. I am always the designated driver, so I just get to taste a few. Some of the reds are good, if they arent really strong. There are usually four different barrells we taste out of, maybe five. Also they pour from botttles, and pour and pour. All day, from 12:00 to 5:00. they do this four times a year. Ther are 12 different winerys in the place where we go. So we get to taste a lot of different wine. Oh yeah, a good time is had by all........ until the next morning lololol.

this morning, I am going to go get my nails done. that is my personal luxury i give to myself and i wont give it up. About every two months, i get a pedicure also. OMG there is nothing like a really good peddy. I love having my feet rubbed when they are so tired it hurts to think about walking on them. then you put your little tootsies in that spa and oh yes, do me! Do me good. I walk out of there feeling like a new person, and all she touched was my feet. and nails, but that doesnt make me feel the same way. Any way, got to get going on my mission. I will probably be her this weekend some time. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. The sun is out here and it is beautiful. Be safe, but have fun.

Entry for April 27, 2006. story

Finaly, part two of this tale of adventures. Gather your children and lets find out where they are going today. I sure hope they can stay out of trouble! If you need to, go back and refresh their memorys on what has happened so far.

As soon as they ran out the gate, Branden told Jessie about the show he saw on T.V. last night. He said it was all about dinosours and how they ruled the world a long, long time ago. He told Jessie how big they were and all the diffferent shapes and sizes. They were all over the world, and so big they could do what ever they wanted. He was so excited, he wanted to pretend they were dinosaurs, and go all over the world like the ones he saw on TV last night.

This really sounded like fun to Jessie. She loved to pretend different things and use her imagination. She had more fun that way than playing with a ball, or dolls, or even a regular game. Using her imagination, she got to be and do whatever she wanted, and that was fun.

She decided she wanted to be a medium sized Pink dinosour, with a purple tail that ate flowers and grapes. Grapes were her favorite food, cause they fit perfect in her hand. She would also have a crown on her head that just grew there, so she didnt have to worry about how to keep it on. She decided she want to be called a pinkasaurus.

Branden had been thinking about what he wanted to be while Jess was telling him about her dinosaur. Branden would be taller than the Pinkasaurus, and stronger. He would be a dark grey color, with big teeth and claws, so he could scare away other dinosaurs. He would be the scariest dinosaur around. He would also have a star shape on his chest, sorta like a policemans star. He really wanted to be a policeman when he grew up. He would be called a scarysaurus.

So off they went, into the tall grass, Branden in the front, and Jess close behind him. Branden, I mean Scary, walked along moving his head wide in both directions to make sure there were no dangerous animals in there path in front of them. Pink followed close behind, sure that Scary would make sure she was safe. You see, the only other dinosaur Scarysaurus's like, are Pinkasaurus's. Every once in a while, Scary would let out a very scary sound, a very loud eeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrkkkkkkkkk. It really sounded scary, and surly it would scare away any creature daring to walk in their path.

They walked in the big field like this for a short while, when they saw something move ahead. They stopped and looked, watched for the thing to move again. What could it be?? Was it going to keep coming at them, or turn and run in the othere direction. Scary thought about letting out another scream sound, just to scare it off, but Pink, Said "Ssshhh, Maybe it will turn around". They both stood very still, but the thing kept coming closer, very slowley, sometimes walking, sometimes hopping. They both knew what it was now, and it could be very mean too, if it was surprised or scared. It was a very big rabbitsaurus.

Although Pink was more of a nice dinosaur, She had a very scary scream, almost scarier than scary's. She didnt scream very often, but when she got very, very scared, she couldnt help herself. She thought she was going to scream she was so scared. Then, all of a sudden, Scary let out the scariest scream she had ever heard. Screeeeeeeeeeeeech ScreeeeeeechScreeeeeeeech.

The rabbitsaurus turned and ran away so fast in the other direction, and didnt stop until Scary and Pink couldnt see him any more.

Entry for April 23, 2006

Just a quick note. I finished my baby quilt and posted picks in a new album. I kinda like this one, I think it turned out cute. I tied it instead of doing the quilt stitching on it. At the end, I tied a bunch of baby goodies with the long ends of the yarn I tied it with. If I were a baby,I would love to be wrapped up in this one

A sad day in Blog land

Most of us got a very sad message today. Amber has closed her blog. She is the best at this, interesting to everyone, and always friendly. We all know she had to go back to work, lucky for the folks she works with. I bet she is a blast to be around. I checked out her page, and all her info was gone, excepte for the pics and her friends list. I know I am not the only person that looked forward to her blog comments, and posts.  I really am sad. Amber, I am so sorry you had to go back to work. It is not only a loss of your time with your family, but it is also our loss of a wonderful friend.  I hope tht someday you will be able to free up some time and pop in to see us again. I will surley miss you wonderful smile and cheerful comments.

Imagination Station is Now in Operation

I told Amber I would write a story about the kids, hers and my grandkids. I just had to think of what it would be. Every day different scenerios would roll through my brain, while I was at work or trying to get to sleep. The one one that wont let me sleep is the one that gets written. Well, Amber and Tania, here is Branden and Jessies Big Adventure. It will be interactive again. This time, I can be more flexable with the story line, so please let me know where you want it to go. Anyone else is also welcome and appreciated to comment

Branden and Jessies big Adventure

"Branden, Branden come in for lunch" Brandens mom called out the back door to her son. She could see his little blond head running across the field toward Jessies house. They were best friends, and always played together.

When Branden heard his mom call him, he stopped and turned around. "Mom, please can I play a little while, I have a big adventure to go to, and I need to tell Jessie, Please mom, just a little while longer?" " Ok, but not too long. Maybe Jess can eat with you. " Branden was off and running before he even heard the rest of what his mom said.

Branden andJessie had met in school. They played together at recess, even if it was a group, they always played on the same team, whether it was kickball or hopscotch. They walked to school together, and walked home together. They were just the best of friends. There was a field between the backs of their houses. If either one walked out the back gate in their yard, they could walk straight to the other ones house. There was even a path to get there. On either side of the path, was tall grass, about as tall as Branden and Jessie. If either mom stood out on the back porch of their house, they could see the kids playing in the field.

Branden was running as fast as he could. He had to get to Jessies and go on a big adventure. It would be so much fun. Every adventure they went on was fun. Sometimes they would be Superheros and save the world, and sometimes they were cowboys and indians, just like in the westerns on tv. Where ever they went, it was always exciting.

Branden was finally at Jessies gate. He called her to let him in, and since she was in the back yard, she could hear him and went right over to let him in to her yard. "Jessie, ask your mom if you can go on an adventure with me. It will be so much fun! Ask her please!" Branden begged as soon as he saw her. "Where is the adventure going to be Branden?" asked Jess. "Just outside the gate, hurry up, my mom is going to make me go home and have lunch pretty soon."

When Jess heard this, she ran into the house to ask her mom if she play outside the gate with Branden, just for a little while. Jesses mom said "yes, but dont be gone too long, you have to come in for lunch pretty soon".

That was all it took, and Jess and Branden were outside the gate and ready for the new adventure.

My thoughts on .....email

Last night before i went to work, I stopped by the 'puter and checked my mail. I had 18 emails to read. Some were junk mail-DELETE.  Some were things n could read later, not really important, but cant delete. then i got to the good stuff. I had two letters from my neice, who i talk back and forth with a lot. She is close to my age and more like a friend than a neice. I really enjoy email from family. I save them for a while until i read them a few times, sorta like a sent letter you might get in the mail. I re-read them to refresh my memory, or sometimes just to make me feel good.

Some of my emails i saved. When my mom was sick and I was taking her to the doctor, I would email all the family and let them know what happened that day. Sometimes I got responses back from a sister, or maybe I left out some info, so I would answere the questions and send them out again. I didnt mind doing this, it made my family happy to hear what was going on with their mom/ granny.  It made me feel good to be able to do something useful for my mom. I kept all the letters back and forth from that time. I dont know if I willever be able to delete them. It doesnt matter, its not taking up much needed space.

And then there are the really fun email.. The ones that say Amber, (or some other really nice person) has sent you a message. This means someone has read your blog page and has sent you a message back. I love getting these. I know how much time it takees to look at each persons page and to respond to them. Sometimes I go for a few days and dont write anything because my brain is fried and there just isnt anthing worth tappin on these keys about.  I look at other peoples pages and sometimes i can comment on the topic of the day, sometimes I cant, I just dont have an opinion. I do try to say something to at least two or three people each day though.

There are some blogs i wait for, I enjoy reading, they make me laugh. I know that every Sunday, Herb will post a new movie question. I cant hardly wait for this. I know it seem silly, but it is fun. He also post new pics of Bahgdad. To me this is interesting.

I wait for Amber, she usually makes me think. she puts up topics that give us information we may not always have, and then at the end, asks us our opinion in a poll. Amber spends a lot of time on her blog page. Hers is always interesting and fun.

Also, my daughter in law,Tania, post pics of hte kids and lets me know how they are doing. It is usually a small little paragraph, but it happens every day, and I get to keep up with my grandkids. I am so grateful for her doing this. Thank You Tania.

tomarrow, I might tell you  about the other email i got. I almost let  my bad side write back. almost.

bla bla bloggin on a lazy day

Wow, its really been a long time since i have been to my own site here.  I pop in to look at the blogs people have posted, but I havent done a thing for a few days. I guess there just isnt much going on to talk about. My nephew is home from Iraq. He is a Ranger over there, and here too I guess. I was so worried about him, i just wanted him to come home. I havent seen him for a very long time, but he is my neices son andthat is all that matters to me. he is still my family, and that is what really matters.

Thursday i went to see my foot doctor again. I told him i thought the nuroma he cut out of my foot last August was back. It feels like I am walking on a marble, it hurts. Well, after he felt around on my foot and sent shock waves through my body from pushing on the point of pain, he said yes, it came back. He could cut it out again, but I would be off my foot for  three weeks. I decided to get a shot of cortozone in my foot instead, it little less invasive and wont take me out of work. I want you all to know that freaking hurts like a lot of really bad swear words. I had tears in my eyes and I actually yelled OUCH OUCHOUCH PLEASE STOP! I hope I dont have to do that again. I can still walk on my foot and I think the thing of pain is getting smaller. I will beleive it is anyway. Just so i dont have to do that again.

It is so cold here still. not at all like the typical california weather we are supposed to have. What the heck do we pay such high taxes for if not the really good weather.  I thought that was what we paid for, cus that is all we really haver going for us, except for the great national parks we have here, they really are beautiful. anyway, yesterday, we had thunderstorms in the middle of the afternoon and it flooded the town next to us. 2 1/2 inches of rain in about an hour. maybe we are going to float off into the ocean like the east coast folks like to say.

anyway, i think i am going to go buy some fabric for the back of my quilt. I have decide on seafoam green minkie, with a white satin border. i will tie it in maybe yellow and blue yarn. what do you think. HEY, HEY OUT THERE. IS THERE ANYONE THERE? oh, ok im just goin on again. se ya all later.

Finally the end of this story

Sara's mom stood frozen on the proch for fifteen minutes watching what had just happened. She was too scared to move, for fear she would startle the giraffe and it would hurt her daughter. Everything in her was telling her to get Sara away from the animal, but she just couldnt. She couldnt say a word.

Sara closed the gate and the baby giraffe turned and looked at her one more time, as if to say he would be ok. Sara stood and couldnt move, until her mom walked up behind her and told her she did the right thing. There was no way she could have kept a baby giraffe in the yard. It wasnt big enough for him to grow up in. Where would he run, how would he learn to be a giraffe. All Sara could do was watch him walk away with the rest of the herd and cry. Mom hugged her and let her cry until she culdnt cry any more.

About 7:30, ranger Mike drove up in large truck with one of the other rangers. Mom opened the gate for him and let him drive into the yard. Ranger Mike stopped the truck and got out. He looked around the yard for the Giraffe, and was wondering what could have happened to the baby. Mom walked up tomike and told himwhat had happened that morning. He was just as surprised as mom had been to hear the story. He was happy to hear that the giraffe was with the heard and they excepted him back.

Mike then asked where Sara was, he had something for her. Mom went and got Sara to come out to the truck, where Mike was standing. Mike gave Sara a small black box he had made for her. He told her, if the baby giraffe came near the black box, within 1/2 mile, the box would beep. A green light would come on and flash, and it would beep at the same time. Mike  made it to react to the chip he put in the baby's ear.He knew Sara didnt want to give up the baby giraffe, but maybe she would know he was around if they went for a walk some time.

This made Sara very happy, although she didnt know if it would work. Time would tell, and that she had a lot of. Sara also asked ranger Mike about the poachers, if anyone was going to catch them. Ranger mike said that since she and Jimmy gave him such good descriptions of the men, they know who they are and they probably will be caught  by the end of the week, they would go to jail for a very long time for what they did.

Suddenly the box started to beep, slowly at first, then it got a little louder. Sara was so surprised, she didnt realise what was really happening at first. Then she looked up and the herd of giraffes were walking past the yard, about a mile away. Ranger Mike said maybe the signal in the box was stronger than he thought. Sara ran to the fence and watched the herd walk slowly away. She hoped they would come back some day, but now she would know if they did.

Later that night, they were sitting in the house, talking about everything that had happened that day. Ther was a beep sound coming from the kitchen, where Sara had left the box on the table. They all got up to see why it started to beep, maybe it was broken. But Sara looked out the door and standing near the fence, was the baby and another large giraffe. He had come back to the place where he felt safe.

Wow, i just did a cut n paste to that story, maybe I will try and publish it, and boy was there a bunch of spelling errors. I really do apologise for ayone that read that and endured all those. If it were me reading it for the first time, it would have drove me nuts. It turned out to be ten pages long, without all the poll stuff and other unnecessary stuff in it. Well, I hope you enjoyed it. Thanks to all of you that read it.

Entry for April 10, 2006

It was late in the day and ranger Mike knew he couldnt find the poachers that day, even though he had great information from the kids. He also couldnt take the chance to try and find the herd to return the baby to before it got too dark. It would be too dangerous forthe baby. He told Sara's mom andn the kids he would leave the baby there and be back in the morning with a bigger truck and some help to return the baby to the herd. Sara was happy to hear that, she didnt want to see the baby leave. Mike got back into his jeep along with Sara and Jimmys friends he had brought with him, and left for the night. He woyld be back early the next morning.

As night got closer and it got darker outside, the baby giraffe went deeper into the trees in the yard. He was doing what his mother had taught him to do at night to hide himself. He knew he was safe and wanted to stay where he was for right now. All the different scents in the air were getting stronger as the wind died down, and now was when the other animals came out to eat.

Sara sat on the porch and watched the baby until late into the night. What a strange thing she thought, to have a baby giraffe in your yard, like some stray dog or something. Back home, she would never see anything like this. At times like this, she knew she was so lucky. she heard mom call her in to go to bed. It was very late and she was getting tired. She knew the baby would be there in the morning, so she whispered good night to the baby and went inside to go to sleep.

The next morning, Sara woke before everyone else in the house. She quickly got dressed, had a drink of juice and went out to see the baby. It was around 6:30, and the sun hadnt started to come up all the way yet. It would still be cool outside, but Sara didnt need a jacket or sweater. She just needed to see the baby and make sure he was ok.

When she opened her front door, she stood in amazement. She was frozen with what she saw. There must have been 25 or 30 of them, all standing at her fence. They all looked the same, yet they were all different. Some were taller, some were more muscular. You could even tell that some were the leaders and some were young, more like the teenagers of the pack. The little horn things on their heads were different. They watched her as she stood there, staring back at them. Very carefully, she looked over at the baby, still standing across the yard in the trees.  She knew what they were all here for, and she knew what she had to do.

Before she could do anything, she had to say good by to the baby. Sara knew it was dangerous, but she didnt care, she was going to take her chances. There was no one around to tell her no this time, no one to warn her of the dangers and she didnt care. She had grown to care about this baby animal as if she had known him all her life. She felt a closeness to him, and somehow knew he wouldnt hurt her. Very carefully, Sara stepped off the porch and walked ever so slowley toward the baby. She had to touch him just one time before she said good by. She looked for leaves to feed him so he wouldnt be scared, but found none. As she got closer to him, she put out her hands in front of her, to show she had nothing to hide, and she talked softly to him. Sara was very surprised to see the baby didnt run away as she got closer, he stood and looked back at her.

Sara finally got close enough to touch and pet the baby giraffe. She kept whispering encouraging words to him, telling him she wouldnt hurt him, that he was safe with her, and she wouldnt let anything happen to him. She meant every word. Sara ran her hand down the long leg of the baby giraffe. He didnt even flinch when she touched him. His fur was so soft, just like someone had combed it. She could feel his chest, where some day he would grow up to be much taller, and she would never be able to do this again. Sara knew this was going to end soon and started to have tears in her eyes.

The baby then tilted his head down to Sara's face and nuzzeled her like she was his mother. He felt safe again. He knew he was going to be with his group, the others like him, but he didnt want to leave the safety of this strange place. This was a confusing time for him.

Sara turned away from the baby and walked over to the gate and opened it. She knew the other giraffes wouldnt come in, but she didnt know if the baby would leave. She had to do the right thing. The baby followed her out the gate, but turned and gave her one last look before he went back to the herd. The other larger giraffes nuzzeled him to welcome him back and make sure he was safe. They all looked at Sara as she stood at the gate with tears streaming down her face.

Some days, I just shouldnt get in front of this keyboard. If I am tired or emotionally upset, i should just stay away.  went back and read myself from a few days ago, that was one of those days. I got home from work, at 10:30 am after going to breakfast with the girls at work. I hadnt slept and was really tired. First mistake. there i was, pouring myself out  in words when i should have been sleeping. Usually, when I come to my senses, it is too late and i have made a mistake in writing. Not that i shouldnt have said what I said, cus that is what I do on my blogs, but I need to get some rest before I blog, so i dont send a mesage that I am emotionally unstable. When i read what I wrote, therei was falling apart all over the place. Im ok, really.

Ok, got started on that quilt. It will be very brite, and happy for a baby boy. There is this fabric called Minkie, i am going to put on the back of it. this stuff is so soft, I just love it. I will post more pics either as i go along or maybe I wilh finish it today. I could if I would get off this chair and walk into the other room and start sewing again. It is such and easy pattern, it cold be done in a day.

John asked me to make him cinnamon rolls last night. I woke up this morning at 6:00, so i made them. they are sitting in the kitchen rising. the dough is rising. I love the smell of rising bread. It has one of those childhood memory smells.  We all have them, just different ones for each person. what childhood memory smells do you have, if you have any. These are things that make you want ot go back and be there again. things that makes you feel warm and fuzzy. when you close your eyes, your there again. my big one is the smell of bread rising. what is yours.

have a good day today. really. i am going to make cinnamon rolls, finish a quilt and realax.oh bythe way, I had that glass of wine finally, and it was good. my favorite, santa margerita pinot grigio.

Installment # 6

The baby stood quietly by the tree and ate the leaves he could reach.  He turned and watched the small animal that had brought him here. He knew he couldnt run away, but for some reason, he still felt safe. He knew that no  other animal could harm him here.  There were no other animals like him here, but he knew they were close, he could still smell them in the air. He was happy the small animal sat far away from him, its smell made his nose burn, and reminded him of the other animals that made his mother go to sleep.  He turned away from the small thing, and went back to the tree and eating the leaves, maybe he would sleep for a while.

Sara watched the baby and waited for the ranger to get to their house. It was getting  hotter outside, and the shade was moving away. She would have to go back inside if it got much hotter out here.  Mom called her in to eat lunch, but she just wasnt hungry today, although those grilled ham sandwiches did smell good, they were her favorites.  She decided she had better go try and eat, it would be along time till dinner, and it would help pass the time till the ranger got there.

While Sara and Jimmy were eating their lunch, they told mom about who they passed on the trail. There were some men they saw that were dressed like the rangers dressed, but they didnt recognise them. They think maybe  they might have been the poachers instead, and dressed like that to fool anyone they past. The trail they were on circled around to the area they found the baby and its mom. When the ranger got there, they would tell him exactly what those men looked like, and how they were dressed. Sara kind of wished the ranger would get there, so they could go find the poachers. It had been a few hours since they got back home and mom had called, so maybe he would be here soon.

Soon after they finished their lunch, they could here the sound of a jeep coming down the road. They were sure the kids in the village had heard about the baby by this time, even in Africa, that kind of news traveled fast. They knew the jeep was from the ranger, but sometimes he would bring some of the village kids with him if there was something fun to see. Today was no different. He had two of Sara and Jimmy's friends in his jeep with him. The kids were happy to see their friends, and show off their new sorta pet. They knew this ranger, but were never good at saying his African name the right way, so they called him Mike. That was OK with him, he said, as long as they called him when they needed him. Mike was a very nice man. He loved the Plains and the animals on them. He just wanted to make sure all the animals were safe and allowed to live the way they were supposed to. And he didnt like poachers at all.

After Mike got out of the Jeep, he stood at a distance and looked at the baby. From where he was standing, the baby looked healthey, maybe about 4 months old, too young to be away from its mother, and also too young to left alone.  He might be able to reintroduce him to the herd, if he doesnt wait too long. Mike wanted to check him out before he was put back into the wild, and to do that, he would have to put him to sleep for a while. It would only last about 15 minutes, so he would have to work fast. Mike got out a special gun and loaded a sleeping dart into it and shot the baby in the rear end. He would stay with him and make sure everything was alright.  He wanted to tag the baby so they could track him in the future. This opportunity didnt come up very often, to be able to track a baby giraffe. It would help them learn more about giraffes, and he made sure the kids all knew what he was doing. He wanted the kids to be carefull and respect the animals also.

Mike did all his inspections on the baby and put a tracking chip in his ear. While he was doing all this, Sara and Jimmy were telling him where they found the baby and all about the men they had seen on the trail. They could take him right back to where they found the baby and show him everything they saw. They just wanted Mike to catch the poachers. The  baby started to wake up, and Mike warned the kids to back up by the house. He didnt know what the baby would do when he woke up.

The baby woke up from a sleep that confused him. He didnt remember going to sleep, and he could smell those other animals all around him. He was scared now, and wanted to run away. He jumped to his feet as fast as he could and ran to the other side of the yard, forgetting he couldnt get out. He  hit the fence and stopped with no where to go. He just wanted to stay away from those other animals. There were more of them now than before, where was the small one,the one that made him feel safe. Suddenly he saw her. He knew he would be safe, but he still wanted to get away from those other ones. He didnt know them, and their smell was very strong. He didnt know if he was safe from them. He was scared and wanted to be with his own kind.

# 5 Installment

As they approached the house, Sara and Jimmy were both wondering what they would tell mom. Jimmy asked Sara, "What are we gonna tell mom? you know she is going to be mad. " I know, Said Sara, We still have a little ways to go, let me think.

The baby was following along, stopping every once in while to look around, maybe for its mom, maybe for more food, maybe just to look at its surroundings. It was new to him too, and he knew instincivly to be careful.  For some reason, he felt he was safe with these other animals he had never seen before. The smaller animals had a strange scent, he didnt really like it, so he didnt get real close. They didnt smell like his mom, but he did smell other animals like himself in the air somewhere. He was wondering why he was walking away from their scent.  These smaller animals were feeding him fresh leaves he had never tasted before, they grew too low to the ground for him to eat them. They were much more tender and sweeter than the leaves he could reach in the trees.

Suddenly, they were at the gate and had to decide what to tell mom. Sara knew they had to tell mom what the poachers had done. It was so sad, she hoped mom would understand why they had to bring the baby home. All the way home, Sara kept wanting to name the baby, but she knew if  she did, she would want to keep it.  That just couldnt happen, and she knew that too. So she just called the baby, baby.  They passed through the gate and the baby came with them, staying just far enough to stay a safe distance from the kids.  Once they came through, Jimmy closed and locked the gate behind them. The gate and fence was a full 6 feet high, the kind that looks like it was weaved together, silver colored. It didnt stand out like a wood fence would, but it kept the wild animals out and the family safe.

When mom heard the gate open and close, she came out to see who it was. She didnt expect the kids home for a while longer. Mom let out a sharp cry when she saw the kids had brought home a baby giraffe. Oh my, she thought, what now, what have they done. Before she could say a word, Sara and Jimmy both started to talk rather rapidly and she couldnt understand a word they were saying. She decided to ask Sara why she brought home the baby. Mom knew Sara was more likley to do something like this than Jimmy. Sara could never walk away from animals of any kind. She knew there was something wrong.

Mom, Sara started, Its mom was hurt by poachers and we couldnt leave it there. Something bad would have happened to him. We had to make it follow us. We couldnt find more giraffes to leave it with. We had to bring it home mom, really, we didnt have a choice.

Jimmy thought that he would have left it, but then he would have wondered if it would have found more giraffes to go along with. He didnt know that either. "Mom", Jimmy said, "Can we call the park rangers? I think we saw the people that caused all this. I think we passed them on the trail. They were dressed like the park rangers, but they were none that we know. "

Mom went straight for the radio that connected to the ranger station. They kept it there for emergency's. Just in case an animal was hurt or some strange activity was going on. They hadnt really used it that much for emergency's, but sometimes the kids would call and talk to the rangers just for fun. Today was more of an emergency. Mom was talking to the head ranger, and the kids were listening, making sure she said all the right stuff. Sara and Jimmy could hear both people talking. The ranger was upset the kids made the baby follow them home.  He would have to brought back to the herd he came from, and hopefully they would except him back in, that was always the problem with taking babies away from a family situation in the wild. You just have to be vary careful.

The ranger said he wouldnt be able to make it out ther for a few hours. He wanted to know if the baby was in a safe location in the yard and if they were sure he wouldnt get hurt.  Please dont startle him, he is still a wild animal and even though he is a baby, he is still very strong and could hurt the kids. These were warnings the kids hadnt thought of.

Sara went out to make sure the baby was safe and happy. The yard was very large and the baby was just walking around. He had found a small tree and was munching on the leaves he could reach.  Sara decided she better let him eat by himself and just wait for the ranger to get here. She could still watch him from the porch. He was so beautiful.

Entry for April 07, 2006

Ok , for the last week I have been writing that story and not doing the bla bla blog. For all i know, only two people are reading it, but thats ok I guess. Today is Friday an i dont have to work tonight. I am happy for that. I feel like opening up that bottle of wine i have been promising myself for a long time. I really should. This weekend, I am going to start a quilt. My neice is going to have a baby in September, so this will give me plenty of time to get it done. This is the first quilt I will make without my mom being here. I always love to compare fabric with her, then show her what I had done. I told my sister today i was going to start a quilt and I started to cry. She said that was ok, we are all going through this. That was something my mom and i did together. This is going to be hard, but I really want to do it. I know mom would tell me to just go make it, what am i so upset about. But I want her here with me. My god, when does it get easier?

I have gone in and looked at the things other bloggers write. It seems that a lot of people are utilising that create a poll option on their pages. That is a fun little option. Some people are so creative with what they write, and how they decorate their pages, it make these little rolls boring and sorta mind numbing at times. I think i do this a lot for my own selfishness at times. I just need to vent, or blabber about something, and sometimesI dont need a face to look at me while i am doing it. I wish i was able to do the glitter thingy, or learn how to post movies or soem of the other cool stuff. But then again, today i have spent more time here thatn I have in a very long time. I have writeen to most of the people on my friends list and created another chaptor of my story, that only two people are reading, and now this. I need to do something constructive, like open that wine and start  my weekend. If you happen to read this, hope you all have a good weekend. be safe, and see ya next time around.

Entry number 4

Parents: If you are reading this to a small child, please be aware this page may be sad to them. You may want to pre-read it and make adjustmants for your kids. Dont worry, everything comes out good in the end, I promise.

The kids were being careful, and listening for any strange sounds. They could still hear the soft crying animal sound and walked toward it. They were getting closer, and now there was a strange oder in the air. What could have possibly happened. ?

Suddenly, they walked into an open area and saw what has caused the loud bang sound and the crying sound. Sara and Jimmy had heard about this stuff happening, but had never seen it. They stopped and just stared at what had happened, without saying a word. They both knew who had done it, and they knew who to tell. At times like this, they wished they had a radio.

Jimmy said they should just go back home as fast as they could and call the park rangers to let them know. He said that would be the safest thing to do. If they ran, they could make it home in 30 minutes. He wanted to let the adults take care of this.

Sara, on the other hand, was more like her dad, and wanted to stay and make sure the source of the crying was ok. She loved all the animals on the planes, and it hurt her to see even one of them injured in any way. This was too much for her to walk away from, even it would have been safer for them to go back.

They had seen what a poacher had done to a mother giraffe. She wasnt killed for food, just parts to be sold in a market somewhere. It couldnt have been a market in Africa, because this was illegal here. The poachers had taken what they thought they could sell, and left the rest for the scavengers. It would only be a matter of time before the hungry wild animals would be here, feeding on the carcass of the large animal. Within a day, there would be nothing left as proof of any illegal killing. The poacher didnt see the baby when they shot the mother, and thought twice before hurting the baby also. The baby would never be able to survie on its own.

Sara couldnt see any other giraffe heard in the area that might adopt the baby and keep it safe. She knew she would be in trouble for bringing it home, but she couldnt leave it behind either. So, she figured out a way to get the baby to follow them home. She wrapped leaves around her stick and tied them on with the tall grass. She left them hanging loosley, so the baby could eat them. Once she made her food stick for the baby, she had to get the baby to leave its mother. Jimmy tried to get the baby to move by scaring it away from the mother, but it wouldnt move. Sara put the hanging leaves in front of the baby's face and was happy to see she started eating the leaves. Slowly, Sara backed away from the area, and the baby followed. It had worked!

Jimmy wrapped and tied leaves around his stick also, in case the baby ate all the leaves off Sara's stick before they got home. If they were going to try and bring a baby giraffe home, they better make sure it would follow them all the way. They walked back to the house slowly, making sure the baby would stay with them. Soon, they could see the gate to their house. Sara's heart started to beat very fast. They had done it. They made it home. Now, what would they tell their mom?

3rd Installment

The kids both listened for a while, to see if they heard anything else. After a few minutes, they decided it was ok, and they kept walking. Sometimes a sound out here could be heard for miles away. That could have been the case today. They didnt hear any animals running from the sound, so maybe it was far away.

It kept getting hotter and hotter. Jimmy wished he had worn a hat to keep the sun from burning his face. Sara always wore a baseball hat. It was from her favorite football team, the San Francisco 49ers.(insert your favorite team here). Jimmy didnt have a special team he liked, and he didnt like baseball hats. He had a safari hat his dad had given him a while back, he knew he should have worn it today.

They walked along quietly for a while, just taking in the day. Sara thought she heard something and asked Jimmy if he heard it also. No, he hadnt heard it. "Listen real close," Sara begged, "I know I heard something, like crying." Sara seemed to hear things no one else heard, so Jimmy went along with her and listened real close. This time, Jimmy thought he did hear something also, up ahead. He couldnt tell how far, but he did hear it too, now. And it did sound like crying, but not from a person, like an animal crying. They didnt hear this very often, so they were concerned about what they would find up ahead.

Sara knew she heard men talking. She couldnt tell what they were saying, but she could hear them talk. Jimmy heard it too. Maybe the big bang sound wasnt that far away. Maybe it was closer than they both thought. The kids were a little more careful now. They started to walk a little closer together and even a little slower. They both knew it could be dangerous to surprise other people out here on the planes. The grass was still kinda high, but the kids were too small to be seen above it.

To be safe, they decide to yell out a little and let whoever was out there know they were there. They called out Hellooooo in a slightly loud voice. As they walked along, they called out some more. Soon, they heard the men running away. They knew they were running away from them, because the sound of their voices got softer and they couldnt be heard any more. Sara and Jimmy wondered why they were running away. Maybe they saw a lion or some other animal.

2nd Installment

Mom would make them grilled ham n cheese sandwiches and a bowl of tomato soup for lunch. She liked to give them food from home to let them feel a little bit of that home comfort so far away. She told them to be sure and check the time and be home by 12:00, before it got too hot out. Have fun and be careful.

As Sara ans Jimmy headed out the gated area, they each grabbed their favorite big sticks. Sometimes they would act like big game hunters, looking for lions or elephants or even bears, although they knew there was no bears in this part of Africa. It was just fun. With their sticks poised as guns, they headed out, looking for whatever crossed their path. Sara always hoped to see lions and maybe even zebras. All she ever saw was an elephant way far away and one time she thought she saw a huge snake. It turned out to be log that had fallen across the path.

Today was no different than any other day. They passed some villagers out for a hunt for food, and then soon came upon some men they had never seen. The men were dressed in the same kind of clothes that the park rangers wore, so they werent alarmed. They greeted them and kept walking along, keeping an eye out for animals all the while.

It was getting quite warm already. It was only 9:00, but they were sure it was going to be a very hot day. On days like today, they hardly ever saw anumals. The animals tended to stay put in the shade for as long as they could when the sun got this hot. It was more dangerous, because you couldnt see the animals laying down in the grass. The kids were more alert on days like today.

Suddenly the kids heard a very loud bang. It sounded like a gun going off. It could have been the hunters they passed earlier, but they couldnt be sure. Sara thought the sound came from in front of them and Jimmy thought it was from off to the side of them. This scared the kids though, because they knew that whoever was shooting, didnt know they were there, they had to watch out for hunters now.
