Last night John and I went to a dinner put on by the VFW to honor some lome local students, firemen, policemen and em t's and VFW members. it was very nice. the students won awards and checks for writing about what freedom meant to them and what patriotism was to them. it brought tears to my eyes. the boy scouts served the food and cleared the tables. We all passed the basket and filled it with cash to give to the scouts. They made out pretty good. When they first walked in, I was sitting at one of the tables, and I recognised one of the boys. It was the son of my best friend at work. have watched this kid grow us since he was about three or four. Now he was serving and helping in the community. How cool is that!
Anyway, I was talking to John and told him i had to bake today to make the cookies for the bake sale on Wednesday. One of his friends asked what kind of cookies and how much would I charge for them. He told me he loved oatmeal cookies, and would pay for them. He is a single guy, so he doesn't get goodies like this. I told him 25.00 for a gallon size bag, about 40 cookies, the cash would go to the bake sale for cancer research. He forked over 25.00 cash ands asked when he could get his cookies. I told him tomorrow they will be ready and John will call you when they are ready. So john is going to deliver them to him today when the go do something else with the VFW.
So this morning I got up, made the cookies and had to go get more supplies. I used all the chocolate chips, and was just about out of brown sugar. Cant make cookies without these items. So I head off to the store, pick up items and go to the checkout counter. I paid for y items, and the cashier says have fun making those chocolate chip cookies. I then told her what I was doing and that frito lay matched the 1100.00 we made last year. Then she told me she would pay 25.00 for a batch of cookies. Surprised, I said really? She said yes, and I told her I would be back later with her cookies. Needless to say, I am freaking tired. I made three batches of oatmeal and a huge batch of chocolate chip. But I have raised 50.00 already! woo hoo!
Yesterday I started a new quilt. Its called English Ivy. Its burgundy and pink and I really hope it turns out as pretty as it is in the book. I'm sure it will, as long as I read the instructions the right way. I think I will give it to Johns niece.she is graduating in a few months, and I think this may be a nice gift.
Anyway, that's all I have. Its been rough week, I had to work OT one day and I just couldn't sleep well this week. that screws me up and its hard to get caught up. So see ya all later and have a great week.
