I have been going out to check my new pets first thing when I get home every day. I put food in the water, but they don't eat it. Yesterday i put in some fresh water from the hose, and saw a couple of the tiny fish that died float to the top. I was able to get one and remove it. the other one is sitting on the bottom of the bottom barrel somewhere. I tried to find it to take it out, but i couldn't see it. So this morning I went out, looked at them, pulled out the fake plant the little guys hide in and counted seven. I am so happy to have seven of them still alive. I hope they all live. then i tried to feed them again and hoped they would come up and eat. the big ones in the bottom barrel did start to eat the food this time and I was so happy. I was worried about them. A lady at work said she started with a bunch of the tinys from walmart and they are all still alive and about 3 or 4 inches long. I can hope. 
In my last post I guess i ticked a couple people off. someone I don't know said i was a narrow minded bigot, or racist or something. I wrote her a personal message saying i wasn't, and she insisted i was. i guess she wont be my friend then. she wont be reading this i guess. oh well. I don't think i could go to someone's page and introduce myself by calling someone things like that. i shouldn't be bothered by this, but it does bother me. maybe because this is the first time i have ever been attacked for the stuff i write here. its not like i have this huge following of readers. if five people read what i write I'm lucky. lol. i don't do this for friends though. I have friends because i was lucky enough to meet them. maybe this is why i only write non serious stuff here. I just don't want to be bothered with confrontation on this site. that isn't what its about for me. ok, nuff said on that, just had to get it off my brain. 
i was working last night and packing next to this lady. I don't always get to pack with everyone else. they put me on automation cus you have to be certified on it and keep it running efficiently. it was the end of the night, and I was kinda tired and trying to keep myself awake and entertained. I have wondered this many times, but never said it out loud. I wondered what it would be like to have everyone on the lines start singing the same song. I was thinking 99 bottles of beer,cus everyone knows that song, but it could be any song we all know. i just thought this would be funny to see. "cheetos, the musical!"

ReplyDeletei havent named the fish yet. im kinda scared to. lets see how they are doing in a week. i dont know about the time space thing. i just found out how to control how many alerts i get on messages. i et alerts for friend and friends of friends. maybe that is why, cus I changed something on my page, i dont know.

ReplyDeleteIf you have anything other than well water - chances are the water from your hose is chlorinated and it will kill your fish. You must let the water sit for 24 hours before you put it in the barrel or else use a dechlorinator.
Fish don't generally eat in the morning - they tend to eat at dusk.....so if they aren't eating its either because they aren't hungry at that time or perhaps they have found mosquito larva or other bugs and have eaten those (They might have chowed down on their dead friend in fact). Also - they don't eat very much - in fact they can go several days without food and not have problems - so go easy on the food.
Even though it seems like they should come up to the surface to eat - often they prefer to wait till the food sinks down to where they are near the bottom. Remember that for a fish - it's a LONG trip from the bottom (where they generally like to hang out) to the top.
One more thing - I think Carol had some ignorant person she didn't know write crap on her blog too - so there's an asshole going around - don't let it bother you.
Thanks Em. i will remember the next time i need to put water in the barrels. there was still alot of old water in the three so the hose water wasnt as strong. I think in gonna have ot get one of those net thingys so I can take them out when we have to clear out the water in the barells. you are just a wealth of information. i will remember to feed them at night.

Just block them and move on! I know it never feels nice when things like this happen (I know cause its happened to me on more then one occassion! LMAO!) LOL at Amber - they are great with tartar sauce - but these morsels aren't even a mouthful I'm sure. Feeder fish (I think I remember that's what you got) aren't bred to be hardy - so if you even manage to keep half of them alive - that's great. But if they make it a week they will likely be around for a long while. I'm hoping I never have to clear out my pond - what a pain that will be.

They do if they are the musical! and we all will have taps on the bottoms of our steel toed boots so we can tap on our packing stands. we will sing in unison some really cheesy, hahaahhah, cheesy, get it, broadway song. oh yea, people do sing on production lines. in my imagination they do.
