Little of this, little of that

A week has passed since I wrote anything on here. Lets see, hmmmm, what has happened to me. Well, I sort of accidentally, really, saw on my nieces My space page that my son and his girlfriend broke up. This would not normally be a big deal, except they have been together for five years. I haven't really talked to him about this yet, but I will. Not being too nosey, but I am also invested in this relationship, so i think I deserve a small explanation of what happened. I have a feeling I know what it was, but I will try not to have any preconceived notions that I let get in the way of understanding.

Onward. What else has happened. We had a baby shower for one of the supervisors at work. His wife is due to have her baby on the 10th. It was a total surprise and about sixty people people came. We each put in five dollars and had Mexican food catered in. At 11:00 at night the only selection we have is Mex or Pizza. We get tired of Pizza real quick. Anyway, back to the party. He got so many gifts, and had no idea what he was supposed to do as the recipient of the party. It was so cute. It took him 45 minute's to open all his gifts. I took pics of the event, 110 of them. Those were sent to Costco and will become a part of his prezzies. It was fun.

We have started making a new packaging thing. its called a six pack. Some of you may have seen it. there are six small bags in an envelope type plastic bag. It sells for 2.29. Well, we are now making these. I guess its been around for a while, but we just got it and have it up and running. I am one of the people that is putting these bags through he system. We have to slightly bend over all night, and at the end of the night, my back is wanting to break. We are just doing something different and our bodies are fighting back. Crap it hurts, I finally remembered to put more Ibuprofen in my lunch bag for work.

I was just watching tv for a minute and it reminded me of a question i have been wondering about for a long time. For those of you who live on the east  coast, maybe you can answer this question. When you stand  out on the street, wave your arm in the air and yell taxi, how do they hear you. I know they cant hear you yell taxi, so do you really yell taxi, or is that put in there for tv effects. Can you really step out onto the street and wave your arm out like that and have a taxi stop? I have been quietly wondering this for a while.

Ok, that is it for a while. I have no current plans for the weekend. What about you?

  1. Its beginning to be a different world Lisa, when the only way you can find out what your kids are up to is through their my space pages. I saw a good news story on this just last week. Kids can't hide from parents anymore. hehehehehe.

As far as calling for a taxi well my experience with that went a little differently than stepping out waving my arms in the air and yelling, "taxi" Well the drivers are really looking to pick up as many passengers as they can so they will stop for anyone who is standing there looking like they want a ride. All you really have to do is stand there, look them in the eye right through their window of the taxi and maybe hole a hand up in a sort of wave to signal. Then they will stop. The movies always exaggerate things.

  2. Thanks Sheila. I guess it just would be as exciting on tv if they just stuck their arms out and a taxi pulled up. For some reason, that picture just makes me giggle. I see people stepping out their front doors, waving their arms and a taxi appears. It just seems funny to me.
