I better start dating those things so I know the last time I put something in here.
So this is whats been going on with me lately. We have been spending a lot of time working at the post on the weekends. they are going to open soon, hopefully and have been having a lot of last minute inspections. every weekend there has been a cleanup, or something we had to do. this past weekend was the chile cook-off. it was a lot of fun and they raised $6000.00. the ladies Auxiliary raised 800 I think it was. Pretty good for two quilts and lunch served all day. they raised 235 selling raffle tickets for the quilts. the good thing about that raffle is that the person that gets a quilt, really wants it. they don't by those tickets unless they want them. the lady that got the one I made was so happy. that makes me happy to see.
I got a call from alex last night. he is at sheppard AF base in texas right now. he thought he was going to be there until january or february, but will graduate on december 16. I was so happy to hear that. he starts the last leg of his tech training on thursday. and guess what, they are doing nite school and he has the same schedule as me. yep, sunday through thursday, 11 pm to 6 am. he sees that the same way i do, the best schedule. three days off. i am just happy he will be able to come home for christmas. that means i will be putting up a tree this year. if you recall, the last few years i didn't for one reason or another. I don't know about shopping for presents for him though. I will probably just give him a gift card and let him do his own. I hate returning gifts.
Work has been going I guess. last nite I swear they had all the lines on turbo. everyone said they were kickin ass and walked out of there so tired. I know i was beat. a co worker gave me a get well gift she had bought for me while I was off. I don't know why she didn't give it to my friend lorrie to give to me while I was off, but it was still a very nice gift. Tea, peanuts, a teacup, and a really nice card and some crackers. the card made me laugh, she referred to being part of the AARP club and you just never know when we don't show up. its just a running joke we have.
Ok, so that is it for now. not much, but something. that is what really matters. untilmthe next check in, see ya all later.
If you can.. just deposit into his account. I once sent stuff off to oldest.. he NEVER got it.. ever. sigh. letters go through ok.. packages.. don't. I have NO idea why. Easiest thing to send.. is a money order.. I bet he's loving the weather down here! lol It's finally getting to be what we like! Everyone's coming out of heat hibernation!
ReplyDeletehe will be home for christmas, so i will just hand him what ever it is we give him. happy to hear the weather is getting better.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy that Alex is doing so well and will be home for Christmas! :) I never asked..is he going full time active?
ReplyDeleteGlad things at the post are going well...I know you all cant wait for it to reopen. :)
I enjoyed your chili cook off photos and it almost felt like I was there! I think it is so cool that you are so involved with the club and that you really seem to be enjoying it!
ReplyDeleteAlex for Christmas, fantastic! I know you will enjoy that! We are only doing a small tree this year. I finally through our big tree and we are going to downsize this year! This year we have promised ourselves we would not over do it! We, will see!
A get well gift, that is so thoughtful....well, as long as you dont have a nut allergy!
Alex sounds like hes doing really well and home for christmas what could be better.. sounds like your a busy bee again!!
ReplyDeleteDon't do the gift card that is so impersonal and alot of business go bankrupt or the card expires before you use them. Take him out shopping with you one day and let him pick out what he likes. Take him for lunch also and enjoy a mother/son day together.
ReplyDeleteSo glad he'll be home for Christmas........and I think Carol is absolutely right.....and good thing you're going to put a tree up.
ReplyDeleteGoodness it sounds like you've been busy and congrats on the success of the chili cookoff and the quilt raffle...the lady who won is lucky for sure.
Thank you all for your wonderful comments and suggestions.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great Idea Carol. I really was going to do the gift card thing. I kinda have to do it with my older son and family. they live up there and it is too hard to buy and ship everythign and still have money for prezzies after shipping costs. I will really enjoy the alone time with my baby. and tyhis time he will be driving his car back, so the extra baggage wont really matter.
