What a Week I have had

Where do i start???? Once again, it has been one of those weeks. last weekend, the power supply died on my laptop. GASP!!!!!!!! yes, that is what i said too. so i got online and checked the price for new powercords. at best buy it was 71.00 for the just the part that plugs into my laptop. from costco it was 100.00 for the whole assembly and then some. I ended up calling the costco concierge service that comes free with eletronic purchases from there. within two minutes i was talking to a real person and he was looking up my file. we spoke for a while and he finally told me i still had until march 31 on my warrenty. big ole woo hoo! I was so happy to find that out. i get my broken part for free.

so anyway, he tells me he has to hook me up with HP, but he is staying on the line. so i am soon talking to the guy from HP. he asks me if the blue light comes on when i plug in the power cord, no. that is how i figured it was the power cord. so he says he is going to send me a new power cord, for free. if that doesnt work, he will send me a box and to return my laptop and they will fix it. well, gus wut? fed ex arrived on tuesday, i was asleep and missed them. long story short, i had to drive to fed ex, all the way around the corner and ask them to hold it so i could pick it up after work. I did this on thursday and it WORKS!!!! YIPPEEE!!!!,

Ok, that was the beginning of my week. on tuesday, i had to be to the dentist by 9 am for a cleaning. i hate having my teeth cleaned. it seems like they poke that probe down to my jawbone. it freaking hurts. I had to have it done before thursday, which i will talk about in a minute. I finally left, after forking over 1400.00 for thursdays appointment. that is what hurt the most, and still is.

ok, so wednesday I had a doctors appointment at 110. I have a wonderful doctor, so i didnt mind staying awake to see her, plus, she is so busy i was lucky to get in so soon. I have had this irritating cough plus this pain that comes and goes on my right side. the cough drives me crazy, but the side pain freaking hurts. I figured it could be my appendix or kidney. so i get in there, she asks all the questions, and decides to send me to get a scan on my galbladder. hmmm, it could be stones and a little time off maybe. i finally got home around two, and to bed after 3. I had to be to a meeting at work at 11 so i got to sleep till 9. i was tired.

Now, on to thursday. if you recall, last year i had some prework done so I could get posts put in my mouth to replace two teeth. thursday i started that procedure. i got in there, got sat down, and they put a blue hairnet on me along with dark safety goggles. HUH?? I could have had heavy drugs, but i chose the shot only. TG. after i got the shot, my really cute doctor started poking my mouth, does this hurt, can you feel this. no and no.  so he starts cutting.  and drilling into bone, put in a pin, do a full mouth exray, go back put in the posts. and send me home.

i was told no alcohol, thats ok. i came home and kept ice on my face until i took the pain killer and passed out. i have been in some kind of sleeping mode off and on since yesterday afternoon. I woke up this morning and I was more swollen than i was yesterday. I took more anti inflammatory. I feel sorta like crap. i have stuff to do but no desire to move from bed. I will, but i dont want to. i even have had a headache i cant seem to get rid of. sorry for whining here. i know i will feel better tomorrow. I did take off work last night, at least i thought in advance for that.

oh yeah, one more thing. this is a good thing I think. Alex swore into the airforce on monday. he wont know when he will deploy to base camp until next week sometime. I dont know if i told you this. he ran out of money for school. we offered to help him finish but he said he wanted to take care of it himself and this was his way of doing this. he will do trainging in texas but will come home before he goes in. i will keep you updated on the progress.

so that is it for me right now. i will try to not be gone for so long next time.

  1. Oh my goodness what a back and forth sort of week. I am so glad that your laptop was still under warranty - and good for you figuring out the power brick went bad. If it ever happens again - check Targus - they make universal ones that should fit your laptop for a lot lower cost. Or just make a note to call HP in March, tell them it isn't working and get another one for a spare ;).

I'm so sorry about your medical stuff....I know exactly what you mean about teeth - well not the blue hairnet and goggles, but the rest. But I wonder if perhaps you've got some sort of infection that you are still so swollen. If you don't feel better tomorrow you'd better call and find out if they need to see you again.

So Alex went through with it - you mentioned he was going to enlist before....and I'm glad he's going to have some time with you before he goes in..

And I hope you feel better very soon, poor thing.

  2. Wow! I was thinking about tapping into my dental plan for some cleanings and some work, but after your experiences, I'm sure I'm not ready for that! Whew!

Good Luck to Alex. He's getting in at a good time - when we're getting ready to get out of Iraq. He won't regret the Air Force experiences, I hope.

  3. Go ahead and do the dental work and the cleaning. I had to buy the upgraded insurence to get this work done. i dont usually have to pay anything out of pocket, but this work isnt normally covered. its the swelling and discomfort that is getting me.

I am sorta hoping he wont have to go over there. I know that is selfish of me, but he is my son and I am sure every paernt silently feels the same for their child. I am so proud of him. I dont think he realises that, even though I have told him. I think he will enjoy the experience, whether he goes over or not. he is just that kind of guy.

  4. I am feeling your dental pain Lisa both in tooth and pocket book. I hope your son stays safe where ever he is. I know I would be worried sick if it were my kid and I don't think you are selfish at all. It's a mother's instinct to protect their children...

  6. Glad to hear the laptop was still under warranty. Everything I own seems to wait and break after the warranty runs out, which stinks. lol. Sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. Hope you are getting some relief from that cough and pain. I feel for you on the dental work. I had to have a root canal over the summer and I was quite the baby about it. I have a very difficult time with dental stuff for some reason...I think it's all in my head though, because the dentist was really good. Hope your feeling better from your dental work today. I wish Alex the best of luck with his Air force training! I hope he finds the experience very rewarding.
