I don't know why I cant seem to check in here more often. Even if it is only to stop in and say hi, how ya all doin. I have just been so tired lately, that I cant seem to get up the energy to think of something to say. I do know though that if I wait till the weekend, I can write ab out my week. So, here I go.
I have been working on a new quilt. It is burgundy and pink, the blocks look like tulips, and it is pretty big. I was having a problem making this one piece that goes into the blocks, cus the direction in the book didn't work for me. I finally figured it out and got the main blocks completed. I got the blocks sewn into strips, and now I am in the process of sewing the strips together. Yesterday I was sewing away feeling all happy about my progress. I had just sewn the longest strip to the set. I held it up and realised I sewed it on upside down. Crap, I had to rip the strip apart and resew it. I stopped after that.
As I was sewing, my sister showed up with a shiny silver bag that looked like a present. Well, I figured it was for John, since his birthday is tuesday. NOPE! It was for me. Yippee, I got a present, for no apparent reason. It was a black bag made for me by my sister Linda. She sewed my name in pink with made by Linda under it. On the other side it says "If life gives you scraps, make a quilt" I will have to take a picture of it and put it here. It is black on the outside and pink polka dots on the inside. She made the whole thing just for me. I was so thrilled. You would have thought I just won the lottery! i think I did.
Tomorrow we are going to a wine release party. We had to RSVP this one. It is up in the foothills and quite a drive, so we got a hotel room. It is too long of a drive after drinking to try to drive home. It should be fun. I will take pics of that too.
And finally. I have said before that my sister had colan cancer. She is a survivor and doing fine. When I learned of this, I told my doctor, and she had me set up for a colonoscopy. You should start getting them when you turn fifty anyway, and I do want to stop anything before it gets too far. So I had my initial visit, the consult part, and today i did the procedure. I couldn't eat after 1:30 on thursday, only clear liquids and I had to clean myself out, twice. Nuff said on that. Well, I woke up this morning with a headache and couldn't take anything, so it just got worse. I took the second fleet, drank a bottle of water, and threw it all up. From then on, it just got worse. By the time I got to the hospital for the procedure, I was miserable. I would have been ok, cept for the headache. That just kept making me sicker and sicker. I finally got to eat after I got home, but only little bits at a time. I weighed myself just to see, I lost 5 pounds. woo hoo. there is a bright side to everything.
Ok, this is long enough. I will post it at this point and hope you all are having a great weekend.
Cant wait to see a pic of the quilt and the bag. :) That was just too sweet of her!
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean about the colonoscopy..had mine in April. YUCK! I got the headache too..but no throwing up, but I felt like it. Many people dont know how important getting one of those is. Im still trying to talk my hubby into one..he will be 56 this year. (SIGH) lol
The quilt sounds beautiful...and so does the bag, you have a thoughtful sister.
ReplyDeleteI had a colonoscopy in September during my hospital stay for my Crohn's attack, the preparation is worse than the procedure.
The preperation is worse. I slept throught he procedure. I was looking at a black n white monitor, blinked, and the then a nurse woke me up and said its all over. I dont remember a thing.
ReplyDeleteNuff said on that...LOL.
ReplyDeleteYou are online so infrequently, I even forget to check your page. I missed your Friday Chatter blog! OMG! I am such a bad UCB!
Wow...you don't seem to manage well without eating....I am so sorry that your procedure wasn't so nice...but better be safe then sorry and I will not take this opportune time to make any of my butt bandit chokes....
Big hugs...
OH and a prezzie....wonderful...now I want a prezzie!
I will post a page about Big Johns Bday!
Fleet, even sounds like the job its going to do.....I totally feel with ya on the sewing of the strip upside down. When it comes to that point its time to take a break.
ReplyDeleteI have heard that colonoscopies are not the most fun thing in the world to go through. Glad you made it through yours. What a sweet thing for your sister to make you a bag! I wish I could sew, but I struggle to even get my kids' scout patches on. lol. My mom quilts though. She is working on a quilt for Boo right now. It's going slow, but that is part of quilting. Hope your weekend is going well! :)
