I was ripped off

Yesterday I went to Joannes to get some fabric to make a quilt for the new baby my niece just had. I knew she was having a baby, i don't know why ai didn't get this done sooner. So I grabbed my coupon and headed out the door. I had a few places to hit, CVS, Kohls, then fabric. I hit a good sale at Kohls and got to use a ten dollar off coupon I got int he mail. Saved 35.00 there. At CVS, I scanned my card for coupons, and ended up saving about 7 dollars there. good for me. Then, at joannes I found all the fabric to make my quilt, used a 40% off coupon for th highest item, and saved a little there. So far, so good.

I headed home and put all my stuff away, and got started on the quilt. I worked on it, stopping here and there to have a light lunch, talk to my son, talk to John. The picture of the quilt in the book looked like it would take me at least two days to get the front done. But it moved along, and all of a sudden, I was done. I was ready for the fabric for the back. So I had one more 50% off coupon from Joannes, so I headed back out the door. I bought too much fabric for the first part, so I grabbed them and the receipt to return them.

After I found the fabric for the back, I headed to the counter. The clerk returned the Fat quarters I bought too many of, gave me my refund then rang up the fabric I chose. It was already on sale for 50% off, so I gave away the coupon. When she rang up the fabric, she said it was 34.00. OH hell no. It shouldn't have been that much, so I went and found something else. So I found myself back at the register again, this time with a better priced piece of fabric. When I looked in my cart, my wallet was gone. I almost threw up. I went all over the store looking for my wallet, but it wasn't there. It was gone. John called cus he was holding dinner and wanted to know when i was coming home. He didn't even get to ask, I told him what happened, and told him to call the bank and cancel the cards.

I ended up barley having enough cash for the fabric I needed. Yes, I still walked out with my fabric, I still needed it. I am so freaking pissed off though. I cant believe that happened. I looked away long enough for someone to rip me off. mother effers! By the time I got home, John had canceled the debt card and credit card, and was on the phone with kohls to cancel that card. those are the only cards I carried.

Now, I have to stop by the bank and get new cards for John and myself. I have an appointment with the DMV to replace my licence. I still have to replace my medical card and costco card. son of a bitch. Well, now at least I have the back fabric so I can finish that today. I have to be at work at nine tonight, so it will be an early day for me. This has tought me a lesson I guess. I am going to have to learn to carry a purse, or find a way to keep my possession's safer.

Oh well, that was my weekend to this point. At least I get to try and take a better DMV picture.

  3. Poor Lisa.....even if you went to a purse - its not safe to leave that in a cart either. Maybe one of those wallets that come with a strap so you can hang it off your shoulder if you like?

  6. Em, I think that is what I am going to look for. IM not good at carrying a purse either. I tend to set them down and forget to pick them up. I dont have anything but my wallet in them anyway. maybe a lipstick, but i forget to use that too. Im not very good at doing the girly stuff.

  7. I filed a police report this morning, just in case the asshole gets pulled over and tries to use my licence. I was able to do that over the phone, pretty nice. Last night I dreamed about this all night, it made me sick to my stomach.

  8. Mother effers is right. Just can't trust anyone - not even in a fabric store. At least you're way ahead of the game. I only carry a wallet and I can't tell you what's in it. LOL

  9. Oh man.. it does NOT take a thief long.. and they're masters of deception. I never take my purse off my shoulder.. EVER. Until I"m at the checkout.. and especially there.. I guard it like a watchdog! lol. They try and pull my purse from me.. and it'll be the LAST thing they'll do.. Glad you knew everything you had in your wallet.. but.. dang.. what a way to learn a lesson.

  11. I asked that When I was there. The lady told me the cameras on the floor werent activated and the only one was at te counter. she didnt even know if it had tape in it. I think she jsut didnt want to go throught the trouble. Why have cameras if they dont work. oh well, lesson learned. Im getting a wallet on a string for around my neck.

  13. Jim, That thought passed through my mind, that i somehow left it on the counter the first time I went through. I was getting a piece, but the discount wasnt applied, so I went back and chose a different piece. I have to go back to that store though, so I had to let that thought leave my mind. I have to be able to trust the store I shop in.
