This is too funny

it was sent o me in an email. hope you enjoy it

For those that don't know him, Major General Peter Cosgrove is an 'Australian treasure!'

General Cosgrove was interviewed on the radio recently.
you'll love his reply to the lady who interviewed him concerning guns and children. Regardless of how you feel about gun laws you gotta love this! This is one of the best comeback lines of all time. It is a portion of an ABC interview between a female broadcaster and General Cosgrove who was about to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop visiting his military headquarters.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER:
So, General Cosgrove, what things are you going to teach these young boys when they visit your base?

GENERAL COSGROVE:
We're going to teach them climbing, canoing, archery and shooting.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER:
Shooting! That's a bit irresponsible, isn't it?

GENERAL COSGROVE:
I don't see why, they'll be properly supervised on the rifle range.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER:
Don't you admit that this is a terribly dangerous activity to be teaching children?

GENERAL COSGROVE:
I don't see how. We will be teaching them proper rifle discipline before they even touch a firearm.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER:
But you're equipping them to become violent killers.

GENERAL COSGROVE:
Well, Ma'am, you're equipped to be a prostitute, but you're not one, are you?

The radio went silent and the interview ended.

more puter woe's( and a puter fix)

Im just wonderin, do you put the title on your blog before or after you write them? I usually do it last, cus I never really know what all Im gonna talk about. so here goes for this posting.

A few months back, I had to put the desktop in the shop to get decomtaminated. everything had to be erased. At the time, i didnt remember I had a disk that came with my computer to set up the system again. I let the intallers put the version they had back on my desktop. this also meant I had to reinstall the printer. so i got it back home and not even thinking of looking at the installation instructions, just put the disk back in and set it to run. WRONG! I later found out that the printer doesnt even recognise that it has a scanner installed in it. this baffled me. and baffled me some more. its been baffleing me for a while now. I havent needed the scanner really, so it didnt get to the point of bothering me.

Well, one day I decided to make a memory quilt. I needed my scanner to scan some pictures that were given to me to use for this project. Now, it was bothering me. I want my scanner to work. so I thought and thought how I was gonna fix this issue. I decided I was going to uninstall the printer, and do it again. so, tonight i got to work, and was told I could go home if I wanted. they had extra packers. Wow! I could finally do this without having to be so tired and get it wrong again.

So i got home and started looking for the disk. I cant uninstall until I can safely install. so i start looking through the stack of documents and instructions for the whole system, and lo and behold, start up disks for the desk top. Hmmm. I wonder if i can reinstall that system over the one that is in there now. I will call the computer guys later. but I couldnt find the printer disk. i did find the instructions for installation though and saw what I did wrong. i can fix it. John was still asleep, so I didnt want to make too much noise looking for the missing disk.

In the meantime, I defragged and cleaned that puter out and was gonna play a littele spider solitare. WTH! there are no games on that machine. I thought every windows operating system came with games. Now I really have to reinstall that other disk. After John finally woke up, at 330 cus it was too hot, I went back into the other room and looked in one more place. I found the disk and now I will just have to wait for him to get done with his things he does every morning then I can fix that issue. maybe I will wait and call the computer guys first, so i dont have to install it twice.

I really need to do some organising. since alex came home and all his stuff is taking up all my extra space, now my extra stuff is everywhere. gotta figure this one out. Well, see ya later.

We will be traveling by car to Texas to see Alex graduate from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base. Hope your ready for this trip, cus Im hauling all of you with me. No fighting in the back seat or Ill throw you in the trunk. lol

More Saturday Stuff

I started this yesterday, then I hit some button on my keyboard and everything froze. my curser still worked, it moved, but nothing else did. so I am gonna try this again.

I got so used to going out to my fish and saying good morning to them when i got home from work.   i had a hard time not doing that this week. I cant beleive i killed my only pets.

anyway, yesterday when john got home from work, we were out front and looking at the crop of fruit and veggies we had. he planted them in the front yard up the walkway. hell, why not. they got really good sun there, and everything we plant there does good. so we have two watermelons, about four cantelopes, a bunch of bell peppers that are ready to pick right now and we did pick a cucumber. the peaches are ready to eat right now also. I should go get some after i get done with this and whip up a cobbler. oh yum that sounds so good right now. i have a feeling the melons wont be ready until we go to texas, then they will be gone when we get back. my friend is gonna come over and water for us while we are gone, so her family can enjoy our produce.

yesterday i went and did my pre op appointments and picked up my disability paperwork to turn in. I want to be ready when the time comes and not miss a paycheck. that kinda sucks when that happens. I try to do this stuff in advance, cus last minute just doesnt work for me. after i got home, i went and donated blood. while i was there, i brought my lappy and burned a bunch of pics to a disk to use on the memory quilt I am making. I hope this turns out as cool as it looks in my head.

there really isnt a whole lot going on right now. i just keep counting the days till I get some time off. it may be for surgery, but my body is telling me to slow down and get healed. my whole right side is broken right now. lol elbow and knee hurt for some reason, so if i just dont use them in the same way I do at work, they should start feeling better. I hope.

ok, thats if for now. I loaded some shots of the veggies. I was inspired by Sheila to show off our garden of greens. wish we could share them with you.

our new veggies

these are the plants in our walkway in the front yard. the tomatoes are in the back yard. they would do great if we planted out front also. maybe next year.

and then there were none

I think I killed my fish. I am so upset by this. I bought them two or t three years ago from walmart cus I wanted a pet. I bought 10 goldfish for 10 cents each and three coy. I didn't know they were coy till later. the goldfish slowly died off. that didn't surprise me. they aren't expected to live very long. I finally ended up with the coy and one really pretty goldfish. since it is getting hotter, the water in the fountain get cloudy pretty quick. I keep it running, to keep the filter going and the stop the mosquito's from taking hold and having a free breeding ground. I also put algae control in it. you use a very small amount, one teaspoon per 50 gallons of water. I used it on sunday and on monday the water was clear. it hadn't gotten really bad yet. I went out to feed the fish yesterday and they looked great.

this morning I went out there and one of my fish was floating on the top and the other three were on the bottom of the barrel. What the hell???? when i looked at them a little closer with the net, two of them were still breathing, the goldfish and one coy. the coy was still breathing so i moved it down to the lower tank and tried to get it to move. I worked with it for a while, and finally go tit to start swimming a little .

do I sound a little strange. well i got attached to my fish i guess. even though they never swam up to meet me when i fed them, they were still my pets. anyway, i finally go tit stay in the upright position and swim a little so i took my shower and headed off to bed. When i woke up tonight, i checked on it again and he was again on his side, but still breathing. I know that he will be gone by the morning, but i tried. I guess I don't get to have a pet, even a fish. I did  bury the other ones. I will have to do that in the morning with this one. crap. I really liked my fish too.

Now, on a lighter note. my friend did a great favor for me yesterday and I didn't eve ask for it. she called around and found a place that will print the pics for the memory quilt for me. I figured the price of the ink and my time will be worth the cost of her doing that. so, i am going to try and find at least fifty pictures form those that I have and put them on a disk then bring it to her shop. she is a t-shirt printer. she is going to put the pics on a transfer sheet and i will only have to cut them apart and iron them on. and only for about fifty bucks. I am happy with that. pretty cool huh? and i didn't even ask for this help, she just thought of it and did it. How cool is that? I usually have to do my own research and finding. there isn't a time-line on this, so I can take my time until the hall is built. it s gonna be a really cool quilt. wait till you see the end result.

Well, that's it for now. Ill see ya all later.

picture Pride

last night I gave the two pics i took and framed to the guys at the vfw. I really thought they were just gonna say OH thanks, and think nothing of it.  I honestly thought they wouldnt care. John brought me into the meeting to give the pics without permission from the leader and I almost was banished from the room. then, I was allowed to present it to the Commander and I left. it took all of maybe five minutes. After they came out of the meeting for the break, they came over and thanked me and gave me so many complimants. I was even asked if I was a professional Photographer. HUH???? no. I just got two really good shots  with a pocket camera. they even asked if I touched them up or change the settings. nope. These are the two pics. the first one is my favorite. I thought maybe the flag had been taken down when the building burned and that may have been why it didnt burn. well, i found out last night it was there the whole time. it get illuminated at night so it was up. Our
flag is strong, just like our country. one guy even said I should copyright these two shots. I dont know about that. but I was so happy about this, I just had to tell you. hope your having a great day.

Im here

I don't mean to be gone for so long. I just don't think I have much to say, until I start writing on here. Ive done a bunch of stuff since I was here last. and i do check in to your pages and try to leave comments. it seems what you all have to say is more interesting to me right now. but my knee is on ice right now, so for a few minutes, I will check in.

the best thing I have done in a really long time I did last weekend. I got to go to San Francisco to a real Opera house, the Orpheum I think it was and saw Wicked. its a play about the witches of the Wizard of Oz. It was amazing! I was asked if i wanted to go with my best friend at work and her sister. the hospital where her sister works gets group events together and they go and have fun. I was so happy to get invited to this. and the whole thing was almost magical. I love plays. the singing in this was amazing. the acting was amazing. and guess who was in it. Patty Duke. yep. it was cool. and even better, we took two storer buses so we didn't have to drive or find parking. Just show up at the hospital and get on the bus. i hope they do this again. if i ever get to go to another big play like this, I'm gonna pay the extra to sit closer. I just want ot see the difference.

i spent last sunday working on a quilt I'm making for the folks of our local vfw. its a memory quilt and its gonna take me a while to finish, I haveot pick out a bunch of pictures of all the ones i have taken and have them put onto transfer paper then put those onto the quilt blocks. I was gonna print them a t home, but the ink would run out too fast. I'm gonna call kinkos ands see if they do it for me if I bring in the transfer paper. I'm also putting together a photo album for them. this little project is starting to cost more than I figured. its a good thing I am spreading out the costs. it would drain me if I tried to buy everything at once. its almost all done though, I just have to get it all toghter.

Ive been writing to alex and have only received two letters from him. I know he doesnt have as much free time as I do, but every letter makes me feel so good. these are probably the first letters he has ever written. I cant wait to see him. we have our car all rented, and our hotel reserved. we are right on the riverwalk. its supposed to be really nice there. I bought a new bathing suit, and I need to get a little smaller to get into it. I was hoping i could use it there in the texas heat. we may not have the time. two days are going to be at the base, and then saturday and sunday we can take alex off base. I am really looking for ward to seeing the change in him.

well, i think thats it for now. I need to get the ice off my knee, and mop my floors and dust. I want to get this done today so the weekend is free. i have a bunch of stuff i want to get done, and that will give me the time to do it. so all of you have a great weekend. and I will too, ok.

Curves Modesto

these are some shots of the workout we do at curves. The room wasnt full atthte time i took these, so only a couple of the ladies were there. NO boys allowed here, so we all feel good. It not like a regular gym, its better I think.
