A friend sent me this video in myt email. I tried to put it on my video file thing on here, but it wouldnt work. so i am putting it here. It is so cool, but it made me cry, the patroitic kind of proud cry.

I have to work

this sucks. I have to work tonight. they can still call me off tonight, but I really doubt they will. Thanks to wal mart we got a huge contract for singles, have any of you seen them yet. We will be making them nonstop for the next month. I guess its another money maker, but it is creating ot for me. I suppose I shouldnt complain, I have a good job, and I will get a big fat check next week, but i dont want to work tonight. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. K fine, that was me whining.

Now, does anyone else waych Lost? if you dont, just skip to the next paragraph if there is one. did any of you watch last night. did that just blow you away. I had a feeling John was in the coffin, but I knew he didnt make it off the island. and where did the island go. what the feck?????!!!!!!!!Does Ben ever really die or is he dead and gets to keep coming back?

Speaking of lost, last night was the season finale. these last two or three weeks was full of season finalies. we are now into the summer shows which is full of really crappy reality shows and reruns of last years summer shows. this means i start watching the food network and discovery one more time. i can sit here blindly flipping through the channels, or I could do something productive like step into my sewing room and try to make something. I really dont want to do that though, cus I loose track of time and I could find myseld late for work way too often, not a good thing.

I have decided i am not going to worry about caps on my sentences. i may not even do spell check, cus i dont like how it is working latley. I am just rambling here, i have nothing else to talk about. I guess this means I should check out. hope you all have a great weekend and dont have to work.

Im going to Vegas baby!

I finally got through the lines of Get up and Go! Come to find out, get up and go is a time share place. I wont be listening to the time share speech. that is the place where I got the free two night and three days hotel. there were many places to stay, but I got it for Vegas.  The dates are September 10th and 11th. Amber and her Hubby Chris will be there, and Em is supposed to fly out also. I am so excited. those dates are a wednesday and thursday. I would like to stay for friday and saturday also, but John is putting up a fuss over it. He said he would go with me for the free hotel, but doesnt want to have to pay for a room. Can you say CHEAP! I guess it makes a difference if its him that had the idea and his vacation destination. I have a little time to convince him.

Ok, on to other things. Did you see the pic of the purple stuffed t shirt in my album from the weekend? I was gonna have it raffled off at the relay. Well, when I sent a pic of it to our team leader at work, she then told the group that is helping to put this all together. They want me to make Three more and raffle them off at work, selling the tickets for 1.00 each. they want to raffle one a week till race day. they also offered to pay for the stuffing. Its a good thing, cus that can get a littel pricey. I dont mind. i do wonder if anyone will want to by a raffle ticket for one of those. I thought it was pretty compfy, but I dont know if anyone else will. We will see. they gave me three more t shirts, so I will do what they want. you never know.

I have one more night to work and then its the weekend. It looks like I may have to work cus they started late due to the holiday. They allowed part of the people to have their three day weekend, maybe thinking they were saving money in triple time. the only thing is, that potential saving will be eaten up in OT on Friday night. I just hope I dont have to work. I really hate OT.

My weekend

I just posted some pics of what I did this weekend. If you take pics of what you do, it sure makes it seem like you do a whole lot more than you really do. lol When the things you do only take a little while, it can really add up.

Friday morning we got Johns BBQ. He has used it twice and loves it. It smells sooooo good. This kind of smoker is al ittle pricey, but you wont be buying another one for a while.

I put the back on a picture quilt I made. it is really very small, I just wanted to learn how to do it. I know how to do it now. it is all made from scraps and the pics were copied to transfer paper and ironed on the fabric. it was really kind of fun. I also got rid of some scraps.

John and i picked the first harvest of blackberrys. We got so many, and there are still so many out there. I made a few turnovers, and tomorrow i will make a few cobblers. i have a recipe for individual cobbler cups. Very good, yummmmmm.

i bought a Relay For Life T shirt from a lady at work who is running the team this year. I bought a 2 lb bag of stuffing and after I sewed the arms and bottom closed, I filled the shirt with it. then i sewed the neck closed. It is a huge purple pillow, but it is compfy. We will raffle it off at the relay for life. all the money will go to cancer. I dont mind doing this if all the money goes to fight cancer. By the way, I have raised, thanks to friends and family, 245.00. it will be matched by pepsico. All the money we raise will get matched. it just makes me want to work harder.

A funny thing. amber had a photo challenge to take a pic from a doorway. I took a pic from every doorway in my house. maybe because it lets people into your home, but I got more comments on this than anything else I have ever done. It kinda invites your friends in I guess. maybe says welcome to my house, which by the way you are welcome to. Ok, that is what I did this weekend. I did a few other things, like get my hair cut very short, but I think you all know that.

I am going to try and meet John tomorrow morning for the memorial service with the VFW. If I make it, it is right after work for me, I will take a few pics and put them up here.

We dont really have anything planned. I am hoping to finish a few projects I have in my sewing room. I have to work Sunday night, and Monday night so no three day weekeknd for me. I will get paid triple time tho on sunday. I guess that makes it worth it. there is a memorial on Monday morning with the VFW, I will try to stay awake for that. i hate to miss those things.  

i dont know how far the news is going, but we have a huge fire going here in California. It started Thursday morning, and is not yet contained. the wind was blowing so hard, there is no way it was gonna get contained. Anyway, it is right in the line of my sisters home. She is gone on vacation, so her daughters went in and got a few things out of the house, just in case. I know Haley lives in the same city as my sisters, I hope her home is ok. So far 17 homes that I know of have burned. One home is too many. It looks like it may rain though, so maybe nature will help put this one out. We havent had the rain we usually get, and this years fire season may be very bad because of it.

Johns Smoker/BBQ was delivered yesterday. it is a Traeger, Lil Tex. he loves it. We have to get Pam spray for grilling, and then we can use it. John seasoned it yesterday by turning it on and letting it smoke/burn with nothing in it for 45 minutes. Here Is a pic of it. Very nice and I have a happy hubby.

Frogs, releases, and a smoker

This past weekend, John and I went to a wine release party up in the foothills. It is the foothills of Calaveras County. I know you have heard of this place, it is the frog jumping place. They have a frog jumping contest every year, and it is serious business. so we knew we didnt want to drive home after the wine tasting, so we got a room close by. I took a bunch of pics around there, but I havent put them up here yet. Anyway, i was out taking pics and there was this creek by the hotel. So i went and took pics there. I looked down into the nasty creek water and saw the biggest dog gone polly wogs i have ever seen. They were huge. I knew they were gonna be big frogs in their next life, but I couldnt get over how big they were. They are also going to be contenders for jumpers. People catch these and let them grow and put them in the contest. They have money on these frogs. maybe i will put more about this at a later date.

So later that day, we went tot the release party. It startedd at 5 in the afternoon, which i thought was sorta strange, why so late? But I realised later that if it were any earlier, it would ahve been too hot. Anyway, he had 50 lbs of bbq'd tri tip that had marinated in red wine. OMG it was the best I had tasted in way too long, and John cooks a mean tritip. But this was good. There was also grilled asperigus. Yes, grilled. It was soaked in olive oil and salt n pepper, then grilled for a short time, placed back in the foil pans, covered and placed back on the heat to steam. I could have eaten the whole bunch. Asperigus is grown real close to here, and it is fresh as it can be. OH yum. The wine was pouring freely and it was very good. He even announced the release of a wine his friend is making. It is a Zin, but has chocolate flavors. Very tasty wine. We had to leave around 8, because I had enough to drink and so did John. Also i was so tired, I couldnt keep my eyes open. But we had a great time.

Back at the hotel, we fell into bed. this by far, was THE most uncomfortable bed i have ever layed down on. It felt like a box spring with a sheet on it. Neither of us really slept, so in the morning, we got up, got dressed and were back home by 830 am. John went back to bed to finish our Sunday morning routine, Watch Good Day Sacramento and have coffee in bed. it felt better to be home.

So yesterday we went out looking for a  smoker/bbq. There was an ad in the paper for a place in the next town over that sold the kind of smoker John wanted. We found the place and he said before we went in, "We arent going to buy anything right now, I just want to look and price these. Let me do all the talking" Ok, sure, I dont care, I just want you to get waht you want. Well, we walked in and John saw what he wanted right off the bat. He talked tot eh salesman, who by the way really didnt try to sell, he let us decide and the thing sold itself. The guy also had a model they use each week to cook stuff up for sales people or customers. He showed us how easy it is to start up and use. Well, in teh end, you know John got what he wanted. He must have taken the book to work to show off, and i cant remember the name. But it is really nice. It will be assembled and delivered on Friday morning. When it gets here i will take a few pics and post them here. This is really a very nice model. I hope it is John last smoker. He is getting a collection of them as he trys to find the right one.

Happy Birthday To John

Today, May 20th is Johns 50th birthday. I already had mine, and it was fun. so last night when i got to work, I signed the decrew sheet to try and go home, I wanted to spend the day with my main man. At about 12:10 i was told I was going home. Yippee! I went home, crawled into bed, and went right back to sleep. Why cant I do this on the weekends. I woke up at 5:30, started the coffee, got dressed and headed to the store. I bought John a cute birthday card, two birthday balloon on a stick then headed to our favorite bakery. There I got six of his favorite pastries, so he could have a choice. I know six is a bit much, but hey, he is fifty. then i went back home, put the balloon in a flower vase, and put two pastries on a tray and waited for him to wake up.

When I heard him in the room waking up, I filled a coffee cup for him and brought his morning surprise to him. I had to make him open his eyes, I knew he was awake. But he was happy when he saw what I had for him. I thought it was sorta fun.

So today, we are gonna go to the E recycle place and get rid of a bunch of old electronics stuff, like our old computer minus the hard drive, the monitor and a few other things. Then we are off to look at new bbq/smokers. I cant get John to decide which one he wants, and he keeps finding new places and models to look at. If I don't force him to decide, this can go on for ever. Hopefully, John will get his birthday present today.

I was gonna tell you about the wine release party we went to this weekend, but I think I will just do that later. I will give this post to John Boy. My Mom used to call him that. Have a great day, I hope we do.

Friday Chatter

I don't know why I cant seem to check in here more often. Even if it is only to stop in and say hi, how ya all doin. I have just been so tired lately, that I cant seem to get up the energy to think of something to say. I do know though that if I wait till the weekend, I can write ab out my week. So, here I go.

I have been working on a new quilt. It is burgundy and pink, the blocks look like tulips, and it is pretty big. I was having a problem making this one piece that goes into the blocks, cus the direction in the book didn't work for me. I finally figured it out and got the main blocks completed. I got the blocks sewn into strips, and now I am in the process of sewing the strips together. Yesterday I was sewing away feeling all happy about my progress. I had just sewn the longest strip to the set. I held it up and realised I sewed it on upside down. Crap, I had to rip the strip apart and resew it. I stopped after that.

As I was sewing, my sister showed up with  a shiny silver bag that looked like a present. Well, I figured it was for John, since his birthday is tuesday. NOPE! It was for me. Yippee, I got a present, for no apparent reason. It was a black bag made for me by my sister Linda. She sewed my name in pink with made by Linda under it. On the other side it says "If life gives you scraps, make a quilt" I will have to take a picture of it and put it here. It is black on the outside and pink polka dots on the inside. She made the whole thing just for me. I was so thrilled. You would have thought I just won the lottery! i think I did.

Tomorrow we are going to a wine release party. We had to RSVP this one. It is up in the foothills and quite a drive, so we got a hotel room. It is too long of a drive after drinking to try to drive home. It should be fun. I will take pics of that too.

And finally. I have said before that my sister had colan cancer. She is a survivor and doing fine. When I learned of this, I told my doctor, and she had me set up for a colonoscopy. You should start getting them when you turn fifty anyway, and I do want to stop anything before it gets too far. So I had my initial visit, the consult part, and today i did the procedure. I couldn't eat after 1:30 on thursday, only clear liquids and I had to clean myself out, twice. Nuff said on that. Well, I woke up this morning with a headache and couldn't take anything, so it just got worse. I took the second fleet, drank a bottle of water, and threw it all up. From then on, it just got worse. By the time I got to the hospital for the procedure, I was miserable. I would have been ok, cept for the headache. That just kept making me sicker and sicker. I finally got to eat after I got home, but only little bits at a time. I weighed myself just to see, I lost 5 pounds. woo hoo. there is a bright side to everything.

Drama on Craigs list

I was awake today when John came home for lunch. He asked me if Iwas trying to do him in. What the heck are you talking about. he told me his boss gave him a copy of something he found on Craigs list. I thought he was gonna show me joke, you know how the guys are. Well, I start reading this and I am like " OH HELL NO" I did not do this. there was a phone number there, and some other info which i deleted for this posting. anyway, i called the number and asked for Lisa. She asked who is calling, I told her Lisa CArlson. her name is Lisa Carlson and her husband was John Carlson who passed away. They live in the next little town over. How strange is that. She told me her husband was at one of the local mortuaries, so i called them to make sure it wasnt a scam. I am waiting ot hear back from them. John wanted to send her some money to help her, but we need to make sure it is real first. How strange is this. No, John is alive and well and gone back to work. Some things are just too strange to beleive.

DWTS and AI

Last night I was watching DWTS and was really enjoying myself. I love this show. You can sorta tell who is going home next, or should go home next. some people just shouldn't make it past the first show, but due to their personal fan base, they stay on past their time. they eventually do go home. For some, they go home too early, and that is a shame. I thought for sure last night marissa was going home. Really, it is her time to go. I cant figure out who is keeping her there. She is very perky, and doesn't look like a regular dancer, and cant dance like the other stars. But she has staying power for some reason, and is now in the Semi Finals. Christi yamagucci has bee a strong contender since the beginning. I sorta hope she wins. i would like to see a female win. it is sort of strange, I think. I would imagine that most of the Dancing audience is female, but only one female has ever won, and that was int he first season. A few more weeks to go.

I had the feeling on AI that the two Davids would be the last ones standing. They are both very good. My personal feeling though is Archuletta will be the last singer standing. They will all be winners in the end. they all end up with contracts. Good for them.

I reopened my facebook page. I really probably wont go there too often. I just don't get that page, but my UCB begged me to open it back up, and I am a wimp, so i did. Ok, that's it for now. not a whole lot going on. see ya all later.

Sunday Morning Blog

I guess it time I check in again. I have been busy, and then there is the sleep thing. sometimes I lay there and cant get to sleep, so i wake up too late and still want to sleep. Ok, been there, blogged that. this past /wednesday we had the bake sake at work for the Relay for life. We had put up sign up sheets for people to sign up to bring stuff. But, like most of those sheets, they don't always get filled out. As the day came closer, we didn't know if we would have enough stuff to sell to make money. We shouldn't have worried, the folks came through. We had so many baked items, and store bought items that we had left overs. We sold for 24 hours, but couldn't sell it all. it finally got sent to the company store and sold there. I think we sold somewhere around 1200.00. that is pretty good. Last year we did $1100.00. Always do better than last time. I will find out this week what the final total was.

On Saturday we went to a loyalty BBQ out at the post. it was sort of a continuation of last weeks thing. I didn't remember being told about it, so i didn't know i was supposed to bring something. We showed up empty handed, we don't usually do this. Oh well, we got over it. There was a lot of really good food, chicken, ribs n country boneless ribs. john went directly to the grill. He really is the best at the grill. Pretty soon we got to eat. I hadn't eaten anything but a bag of peanuts and i was starving. I filled my plate and snarfed it all down. what a piggy i was.

After we ate, they handed out certificates. John got one for all the help he does out there. He is on the speed dial of the commander, and will go out there when so many wont. that is the kind of guy he is though. there are about ten guys like that out there that always get asked and agree to help. We all need these people. they keep us going. I took pics all day. Pretty much from the time i got there. I haven't looked at them yet, so none here. I'm gonna load them on the other puter. I also found out al the pics they had were burned in the fire. So i need to copy everything I have to disk and hand it over to them. I knew there was a reason I did this stuff.

It was a fun day, we got there at noon, ate, drank and enjoyed each others company. We finally left a little after 8. I washed the dirt off my feet from wearing flops all day, and slipped into my jams. I was gonna watch a little tv, but my body dragged me off to bed. Unfortunately, I woke up at 230, and so here I am, writing in the middle of the night. there is that sleep thing again.

Oh a little update. I finally made it over my goal of 100.00 for the Relay For Life. I am currently at 145.00 and I raised the goal to 200.00. I know times are getting harder for people with the price of food n gas, so this is that much more meaningful. I have until June, so I hope to beat what I did last year on this too.
